Size didn’t stop one toddler from giving his beloved dog the biggest hug he possibly could. A video shows the young boy greeting Bear, a Shiloh Shepherd, with an affectionate morning embrace before starting the day. While the pup’s broad frame proves too much for the toddler’s tiny arms, the heartfelt gesture speaks for itself.
Toddler fails to fully embrace big dog, greeting him with sweet morning hugs
The clip, posted by @bearthefloof, captures a young child making his way over to Bear, a Shiloh Shepherd, for what appears to be his regular morning greeting. As soon as he reaches the gentle giant, the toddler eagerly stretches out his arms and wraps them around Bear in an affectionate embrace. There is just one problem — his furry companion is far too big.
Despite the toddler’s determination, his tiny arms cannot quite reach all the way around the dog’s broad body. The attempted hug falls short of a full embrace, but that only makes the moment even more endearing. The little boy clearly isn’t concerned with how much of Bear he can hug. What matters is that he gets to greet his furry friend first thing in the morning.
The pup, meanwhile, seems more than happy to indulge him. The large dog patiently stands in place, allowing the toddler to step into his personal space without hesitation. He doesn’t pull away or appear bothered by the attention. In fact, he calmly waits while the child enjoys his special moment, highlighting the trust and comfort the two seem to share.
If Bear has you curious about the breed, Shiloh Shepherds are known for their impressive size and calm disposition. Developed in the United States in the 1970s, the breed was created to resemble the traditional German Shepherd while placing greater emphasis on temperament and overall health.
They are typically intelligent, loyal, and deeply attached to their families. Although they can look imposing, Shiloh Shepherds are often described as gentle, patient companions, which helps explain why Bear seemed perfectly content standing still for his tiny human’s morning hug.
