We all know mice love to play when the cat is away, but these Golden Retrievers prefer having a pool party. A hilarious Instagram video by @goldroxgoldens shows what happens when a busy human forgets to lock the back door. The Florida owner returned from a quick lunch expecting a quiet house. Instead, she stepped through the front door and immediately found damp paw prints covering the floors. It seems the pups took over the pool the second her car left the driveway.
Human comes home to see Golden Retrievers and furry friend’s poolside chaos
The camera starts rolling as the owner walks through the front door. She tells us that she’s just got home after grabbing lunch with her family. And before we even spot a dog, the wet paw prints stretching across the floor tell the whole story. A Border Collie wanders in first, looking far less suspicious than expected.
Then two dripping Golden Retrievers come racing inside, tails going a mile a minute. One of them is even carrying a tennis ball, completely unfazed by the water trail left behind. Curious to see what happened, the owner heads toward the backyard. Sure enough, another Golden is just climbing out of the pool while one of the others pauses for a good shake, sending water flying in every direction.
Judging by their expressions, everyone had been having the time of their lives. Golden Retrievers have never exactly been known for saying no to a swim, and this bunch certainly wasn’t about to miss the opportunity.
It’s no surprise that the clip picked up more than 473,000 likes. The comments are just as entertaining as the video itself. One viewer joked that the dogs had thrown a house party the minute their human left, while another wondered if the Border Collie had secretly opened the back door, just to tattle later. The owner laughed, saying this time it was simply human error, and added in the caption that she was already busy packing for a dog show when the unexpected cleanup landed on the to-do list.
