Shelter Dog Doesn’t Let Humans Take Her Out of the Kennel, Scared of What Might Happen Next

This shelter dog doesn’t let humans take her out of the kennel as she is still learning to adapt to her new environment. The video features a dog named Mimi, whose caregivers shared that she is still learning that it is okay to come out of her kennel and go for a walk. She apparently doesn’t realize yet that the volunteers are there to shower her with love and take proper care of her.

Shelter Dog, too scared to step outside her kennel, isn’t ready to trust humans just yet

This shelter dog named Mimi has yet to fully trust people and hesitates to come out of her kennel due to her trust issues. The video was shared in a joint post by @carsonshelterpups. The dog in the clip seems hesitant to step out of her kennel.

The clip shows the caregivers at Carson Animal Shelter trying their best to make the fur baby feel safe and secure. As the kennel door is opened, the dog doesn’t come out. She keeps sitting there, as if saying that she still can’t fully trust everyone. However, the volunteers remain patient. They gently pet the dog, letting her know they are there for her. Slowly, one caregiver picks Mimi up and takes her outside the kennel so she can explore her surroundings.

It’s clear that they want Mimi to have the best experience possible. However, she is scared and doesn’t give in easily. Soon, another caregiver joins in and offers her treats, hoping to encourage her to come out on her own. The video eventually shows Mimi outside her kennel, cautiously exploring her surroundings while the caregivers continue offering her treats.

Trust takes time, and it was no different for Mimi. The video then shows her being carried in a volunteer’s arms. Meanwhile, the next scene captures her snuggling with a volunteer. The shelter shared in the caption that they don’t know much about Mimi’s life before she arrived. However, they noticed that the tips of her ears were raw from fly strike. This condition occurs when flies repeatedly bite a dog’s ears. They added that Mimi is sweet, around 1 to 2 years old, and is waiting for a family that will provide her with love, affection, and a forever home.
