Human Meets Shelter Dog & Realizes He Deserves So Much More Than Being Told He’s ‘Too Old’

Senior shelter dogs are often overlooked because of their age or health issues, and Turtle’s story isn’t any different. A video posted by @rachelishaa on Instagram showed the human urging interested pet parents to foster or adopt the 7-year-old Pit Bull. In the clip, the volunteer also revealed that the canine had no adoption applications. To make his day a little less lonely, she took the dog on a fun-filled outing. The human also shed light on his lovable personality, proving that he deserves more than being told he’s ‘too old.’

Shelter dog doesn’t believe it when human pampers him with the best day of his life

Senior shelter dog Turtle was in for a surprise when a human pampered him with the best day of his life. A volunteer decided to take the dog, with ‘zero adoption applications,’ on a day trip. As she proceeded to open his kennel, he couldn’t stop wagging his tail. Excited by the prospect of freedom, even for just a day, the canine kept looking back to check on his human.

The volunteer’s efforts enabled 7-year-old Turtle to ‘get a break from the noise’ and enjoy his outing. In the Instagram video, the human took her followers along on the ride. The dog jumped on his human’s lap as they headed to the park, completely unaware that this was going to be his ‘best day ever.’ During the outing, the senior dog was pampered with toys and treats, all of which he thoroughly enjoyed.

In the caption, the human wrote, “Senior dogs deserve to be spoiled like this too. Even if they don’t have a family yet.” As Turtle enjoyed his time, the volunteer further shared why potential adopters overlooked him at the shelter. They reportedly walked past him, not choosing him because he’s ‘too old,’ ‘has too many dental issues,’ or that he’s ‘too big.’ Calling him ‘one of the sweetest dogs she’s ever met,’ the volunteer urged people to give him a chance. On their drive back to the shelter, the canine slept soundly after a fun outing.

Since Turtle was once abandoned by his previous family, he is now looking for a new loving home. He is located at ACCT Philly in Philadelphia.
