A tiny abandoned puppy with infected skin and eyes found a home, thanks to a hiker who decided to rescue her. Naming her Nasi, meaning “rice in Bahasa Indonesia,” @sagaslegacy on Instagram found her in Bali’s rice terraces, dripping from neglect and roaming alone with no one to stop for her. Someone told the rescuer that the pup had been dumped there, sick and weak, left to fend for herself — but Nasi had no way of knowing that the next kind footsteps would change everything for her and offer her a new home.

Elise, who runs the rescue account, was starting a hike and had no intentions of bringing an abandoned puppy home. In the on-screen caption, she shared, “I was told someone dumped her here that morning.” The video showed Nasi’s tail wagging the moment she saw Elise, a deeply ingrained signal that often means “I come in peace” or “please be nice to me.”
Elise then scooped up the pup, gave her food and medication from her bag, and carried her the entire hike. Hours later, exhausted, the abandoned rescue puppy curled up on the ground right in front of a waterfall and fell into a deep sleep. Also later slept at her foster home a telling sign of how exhausted she was.
After a long drive, the rescuer took Nasi to a vet clinic. There she played with a ball and showed the same, open-hearted attitude. Then came her first night in a foster home, surrounded by other dogs. She blended in as if she had always belonged, tail still wagging while showering her foster mom with affection.
Commenters could not get enough of Nasi’s sweet story.
