Playing games with your dog means accepting that they will interpret the rules in their own unique way. Winning is important, of course, but apparently so is wagging their tail every few seconds out of pure excitement. Even when they are trying to stay hidden, their enthusiasm has a way of betraying them. A recent Instagram video showed a Labrador learning that lesson the hard way when his noisy tail revealed exactly where he was hiding.
Dog can’t stop making noise with tail as he plays hide and seek
The video, posted by @my_besties_have_4paws, begins with an onscreen caption that reads, “Not sure he quite understands the rules of Hide-n-Seek.” As the game starts, the dog’s owner walks around the room pretending to search for him while calling out questions about where he could possibly be hiding.
At first, the Labrador appears to be doing a surprisingly good job. The camera slowly scans the room, building suspense as there is no sign of the dog anywhere nearby. But the hiding spot does not stay secret for long.
As the owner points the camera toward the bed, the dog’s tail can be seen sticking out from underneath. Instead of remaining still, the excited pup repeatedly wags his tail against the wooden floor, creating a loud thumping sound that immediately reveals where he is hiding.
The noise becomes impossible to ignore as the tail keeps swishing back and forth. Playing along with the situation, the owner jokingly asks, “What’s that noise?” Moments later, the Labrador finally emerges from under the bed, clearly pleased with himself despite being caught so easily.
Viewers filled the comments section with jokes about the dog’s failed attempt at staying hidden. One person wrote, “His tail is say ‘hahahaha she can’t find me, I win!’” Another commenter admitted they briefly thought the dog might actually be too good at the game.
