Everyone is losing it over Franklin, the Bernese Mountain Dog, who is sitting by the table and refusing to let go of dad’s hand. Not pawing at him occasionally, either; he’s actually digging his nails into dad’s hand. The video has already picked up over 21k likes because it perfectly demonstrates that thing where the person who “didn’t want a dog” somehow ends up becoming the most attached human in the house. Which, judging by Franklin’s face, was always going to happen eventually.
Mom captures dog and dad holding hands in most adorable way possible
The video starts when mom walks into the dining room and immediately catches Franklin sitting beside dad with one giant paw resting directly on his hand. The in-video text reads, “The guy who didn’t want a dog btw…” That text overlay tells you everything you need to know. Mom instantly starts melting over it, too. “Awww, holding hands,” she says while filming.
Then the camera angle changes so the internet can properly appreciate how serious Franklin is about maintaining physical contact during dinner. Dad’s equally invested. At one point, dad looks at Franklin with total love, and they just stare at each other like nobody else is even there.
Meanwhile, dad is also trying to eat, which becomes complicated because one hand is occupied by Franklin, and the other is busy searching through a bowl of food looking for something safe to share. Dad explains he already gave Franklin one piece earlier, but is now carefully trying to find something without barbecue sauce on it. This level of dedication here deserves respect.
Then the video cuts to dad asking mom, “Can I give him like a green bean?” while Franklin continues to sit patiently next to him, watching the entire process unfold. Dad finally picks one out and hands it over while explaining that some of the food pieces are still hot, so he’s trying to be careful.
And somehow that tiny detail made viewers even more emotional. “Daddy you’re gonna share aren’t you?” one person joked, while another declared mom officially became “the spare hooman.” Harsh, but maybe accurate.
