Owner Reveals Dog’s Strikingly Interesting Way of Stopping

You won’t find another dog with a more interesting way of stopping quite like this one. Stella is already famous on @dognamedstella as the Queen of Leaves and has over one million followers. She lives with her sister Mabel, who their bio funnily calls Unstable Mabel. These two are the Labradors from those viral videos everyone loves to share. And in this particular one, we see that she has a very specific way of slowing down her body when she runs. It is definitely not the standard way most pups handle their speed.

Dog has an interesting way of stopping while playing in grass

The clip begins with Stella sprinting toward her human in the side yard. She has a ball in her mouth and plenty of momentum behind her. As she gets closer, she suddenly splays her hind legs out flat. Her front legs keep moving while her back legs drag on the grass. This move brings the dog to an interesting full halt. Her owner says in the caption that her “doggo.exe” file just stopped working. Even a slow trot in another clip ends with this same dramatic plop for her.

Stella performs this move in several different locations during the video. She tries it under the tall trees and even out in the snow. The snowy stop features a slow-motion replay so everyone can see the mechanics of this odd stopping technique. Labrador Retrievers are naturally very enthusiastic and sometimes a bit goofy, and Stella has turned this habit into her own signature finishing move. Over 33,000 people already love this funny behavior.

One viewer pointed out that this is how airplanes stop on aircraft carriers. Another person joked that her Bluetooth device just disconnected mid-run. Fans are calling this move the “Stella Sploot” in the comments. Someone else mentioned that she has a new anti-lock braking system. The video ends with her hind legs splayed out in a close-up shot.

Her owner tells her to “keep being you” in the video caption, and Stella clearly listens because she never tries to stop any other way. She drags her legs until she reaches a complete standstill every time. Watching her “brake pads” in action is a total joy.
