Maverick has a perfectly good lawn to run on, but he’s currently acting like he’s doing a life sentence. This 9-year-old fluffball’s bio describes him as Mr. Duck’s best friend and a total basket enthusiast. But a recent video from @maverickthegoldennn shows him in a very different mood. He’s a Golden Retriever who thinks he’s trapped behind bars even though he is literally lying in a massive, open backyard. It is just classic dog logic at its finest.
Video shows Golden Retriever trying to escape from the house that has a backyard
Maveruck is sitting right up against the wire fence, leaning into it so hard that you can actually see his floof sticking out on the other side. His human is filming from a gap between the metal and wooden posts, and Maverick just stares back with the saddest eyes ever. The text on the screen says he has the urge to escape, but he is already outside. It just makes no sense whatsoever.
Then the camera pans away from his sad face, and you see this huge expanse of the backyard. The sky is blue, the grass is green, and he really has enough and more room to sprint about. But Maverick doesn’t want to run. He just wants to sit by the fence and lament his fate. He even has a paw wedged between two metal posts, as if he’s reaching for “fresh air” from his supposed prison.
He’s an outdoorsy guy who loves park slides and windy weather. But right now, he is just a very unhappy prisoner. “This house is a prison,” his owner wrote in the caption. Over 8.1k people have already liked the video.
One fan joked that he is halfway to freedom. Another Golden account promised to come and bail him out. Someone even mentioned he needs an “attorney at paw” to handle his case. He’s probably the most dramatic Golden Retriever on the block. It’s just hilarious how they fixate on the one thing they can’t have.
