At first, the scene appears simple and calm, but it quickly becomes more entertaining. Cactus’s aunt realizes that stopping the petting isn’t as easy as she thought. Curious, she pauses briefly to see how he reacts. Almost instantly, Cactus lowers his head and looks up with unmistakably sad eyes, as if disappointed that the affection has stopped.
The effect is immediate. Unable to resist, she resumes petting him, only to repeat the experiment moments later. Each time she stops, Cactus responds in the same way, with his head lowered, eyes soft, and expression full of quiet pleading. It becomes clear that he has mastered this look and knows exactly how to use it.
According to Brown’s caption, this wasn’t a one-time moment. “Cactus loved his aunt so much and fully guilted her into nonstop pets,” he wrote, adding that “every time she stopped,” the dog would give her “the saddest look” and even glance back at him as if asking for backup. The tactic, he noted, “worked every time.”
