In case you live with a Golden Retriever named Happy, every single one of a baby’s moves deserves an announcement — or at least that’s what this hilarious Instagram video from user @happyandgolden says. The video shows Happy taking his role as household security very seriously. In that, the moment the “baby human” starts rolling around in the video, the adorable pooch springs into action with a string of odd little noises that sound like he is trying to alert his owners to the baby’s movements.
Golden Retriever has a way of alerting owners when baby is on the move
The on-screen caption of the video shared by @happyandgolden says, “Just a Golden Retriever alerting everyone that the baby human is moving AGAIN.” And that’s exactly what happens.
As the baby cruises across the floor in a walker, Happy follows him around, tracking every turn and stop like an escort. He looks back toward the adults as if to say, “Are you seeing this?” and keeps making those sounds as the baby keeps moving, which, of course, only adds to his concern.
The video’s caption clarifies the family’s stance, reading, “The baby human is on the move once again and our puppy does not know what to think.”
People in the comments had many theories, but most agreed that Happy takes the job very seriously. One viewer jokingly said on the Golden’s behalf, “We got a RUNNER!” while another wrote, “It’s a full time job being a big brother,” and several others called Happy the “best babysitter.” Moreover, one viewer even compared the scene to a “secret service run beside the presidential buggy,” because Happy never lets the baby out of his sight.
Notably, Golden Retrievers are a social breed with a focus on humans. Many dogs keep a close watch on the smallest family member, especially when that little person starts moving in unpredictable ways — and if the baby moves around a lot, the task can seriously be “exhausting” for the canine.
Either way, the Golden Retriever certainly feels he is responsible to keep an eye on the baby in this video, no matter how tiring the job is.
