Video of Dog & Cat Competing in Agility Test Ends Unexpectedly

Recently, Michael and his girlfriend decided to settle a legendary age-old rivalry by turning their hallway into a DIY obstacle course. Over at @cactustherescue, they staged a “red cups edition” agility test to see whether Cactus, their scruffy rescue dog, or Miso the cat has the better footwork.

The test is less about science and more about watching who completely overthinks it — and who absolutely does not. The setup stays the same, but each round makes it a little harder to fake confidence your way through. It’s relaxed, low-pressure, and somehow still impossible to look away from.

The challenge starts at Level 1 with the cups scattered loosely across the floor. Cactus stands on one side, looking a bit perplexed by the red plastic forest. He wags his tail, looks around like he’s checking for loopholes. He carefully navigates the gaps, placing his paws with surprising precision before hopping over the final few. His humans are visibly thrilled that he didn’t topple a single cup. Miso responds by doing what Miso does best — sticking close to the wall and quietly avoiding most of the problem altogether.

Level 2 is where it gets tricky, with the cups pushed so close together that there is no obvious way through. When Dad calls for Cactus, the dog doesn’t even bother trying to thread the needle. Instead, he simply sniffs the cups and launches himself over the entire lot in one athletic leap. A slow-motion replay captures his “bounce” perfectly.

Miso then steps up, loafing for a moment before attempting to thread through the cups. Interestingly, his patience wears thin toward the end, and he accidentally knocks two cups over, looking absolutely startled by the sound.

That’s enough to give Cactus the victory this time. Commenters were quick to weigh in, with some calling him a genius and others demanding “justice for Miso” because of his shorter legs. One fan accurately described Miso as having a “sit there and judge you” kind of mood before losing his patience. Win or lose, they both are so loved, which is the real winning in life!
