Video Shows Why This Labrador Needs a Towel After Being in the Snow

It’s not easy to forget a mishap, and a Labrador is proving so. A chocolate Labrador named Dempsey has become the star of a video in which he is careful about coming inside the house after standing in the snow. Instagram user @dempsey_the_chocolate_lab posted the video capturing the small but very understandable drama. And all it involved was snow and one very cautious dog.

Labrador is very cautious about going back inside after being in the snow

In the video, the Labrador stands outside in the snow, looking through the glass door at his owner. His owner gently opens the door and encourages him to come inside the house with a simple, “Come on,” but Dempsey won’t budge. He does think about it for a second, steps forward as if he will walk inside, but then he suddenly backs away, clearly unsure. His hesitation is obvious.

The dog’s owner then places a towel on the floor just inside the doorway and opens the door again. This time, Dempsey steps in confidently. Meanwhile, the on‑screen caption explains exactly what is going on: “He slipped once and that was enough for him. He won’t come in now if the towel isn’t there.”

The moment is both funny and sweet, showing just how much dogs remember and how they immediately learn what makes them feel safe. Dempsey’s careful approach resonated with viewers, who showered him with supportive comments. One person wrote, “i understand,” adding, “i would do the same, Dempsey.” Another added, “Fool me once,” while a third user called him the “Smartest boy.” A commenter even joked, saying he was “cautious like a man should be.”

The snow and the Labrador’s unsure steps in the video are charming. He clearly wants to be inside but wants to make sure he won’t slip again, and honestly, who could even blame him? But with the towel in place, he happily trots through the door, relieved that the “danger zone” has been handled properly.
