Golden Retriever Waits by the Door for Human To Come Home, Then Has the Sweetest Greeting

The front door barely cracks open before Baker figures out who is there. After that, keeping calm is entirely out of the question. Shared by @baker.in.paris, this heartwarming video shows the Golden Retriever puppy welcoming his favorite human home after her first trip away. One moment he is peeking toward the door, and the next he is spinning, hopping, and wagging so hard it’s impossible to tell which part of him is the happiest. If anyone has ever wondered whether dogs keep track of how long their people are gone, Baker seems convinced it was far too long.

Human returns home to Golden Retriever puppy welcoming them with a sweet greeting

The video begins with Baker cautiously approaching the apartment door. At first, he seems curious about the small gap that has been left open. Then it clicks. The second he realizes who is standing on the other side, the Golden Retriever completely lights up. His tail swings so hard it looks like the rest of him is trying to keep up.

The on-screen text explains that his human has just returned from her first trip away since bringing him home, and Baker clearly has some feelings about that. It doesn’t matter whether she was gone for five minutes or five days. To Baker, she is finally home, and that’s the only part that matters.

Out in the hallway, the reunion quickly turns into happy chaos. Baker spins, hops, rolls around, and covers his returning human with affection while she kneels down to greet him properly. A suitcase sits nearby, but it barely gets any attention. Back inside their home, the greeting continues as the Golden Retriever continues vibrating around his human, still unable to contain himself.

The sweet clip has already earned over a hundred likes, and it is easy to see why. Anyone with a Golden Retriever will tell you about the strong bonds that they form with their humans, and Baker is just the perfect example. For him, having his human back home is truly the best part of the day.
