Video: ‘Florida-Raised Dog’ Learns To Love the Snow

Many dogs develop strong preferences based on the environments they grow up in. A dog raised near beaches may act differently from one familiar with forests or snowy landscapes. That sense of familiarity can influence how confident or cautious they are in new surroundings. A recent video shared online shows how one beach-raised dog slowly adapted to the snow and eventually learned to love it.

Dog goes from ‘beach bear to polar bear’ with love for snow in video

Check out this wholesome video where a Florida-raised dog experiences snow:

The video features Chili, a Golden Retriever whose owner explains he was raised in Florida before moving with his family to New Jersey. Being used to warm weather, sandy beaches, and sunshine, Chili had never seen snow before the move. His mom filmed his first experience with winter weather. At first, Chili wasn’t so sure about it. In one clip, he stands hesitantly near the porch, lifting his paws as if confused and unsure whether to step forward. Another moment shows him sticking close to his owner, clearly signaling discomfort and uncertainty.

However, as time passes, Chili learns to adapt to the new environment. The second half of the montage shows a completely different dog. Chili is now racing through the snow, tail wagging and body full of energy as he dives into the powder. He hops and sprints in circles, fully embracing the snow zoomies, while his owner can be heard cheering him on. Another clip shows him calmly sitting outside with flakes resting on his fur, looking quite comfortable in the cold.

His owner captioned the compilation with the joke that Chili has officially gone from a “beach bear to a polar bear,” and viewers in the comment section seem to agree. One user joked, “Lifting his paws like uhhh mom this is NOT sand,” while another imagined Chili complaining, “Heckin almost froze off my toe beans, mom.” Others celebrated his confidence, calling him a “professional snow boi” and noting that sometimes dogs just “need a second chance to fall in love.” One comment also added that “snow zoomies are the best!”
