Rescue Puppy Has the Cutest Way of Asking for Food in Viral Video

Some dogs negotiate for food like toddlers, but Coco does it with a level of drama worthy of its own SAG card. Formerly a Puerto Rican street pup, the @cocoloco.rescuepup star is now a fully spoiled Jersey queen. The video opens with the rescue dog walking into the dining room with her food bowl clenched between her teeth like she’s presenting evidence in court.

She’s got those trademark “professional sad eyes” locked in. Her tail is going a mile a minute, and you can almost tell what is going on in her mind. Whatever happened before the camera rolled, she wants her mom to believe she has never been fed in her entire life. Not once. Not ever.

The scene is already funny, but the way Coco settles onto the floor with the bowl still in her mouth takes it to another level. Mom starts filming and asks, “How am I supposed to tell if someone fed you or not?” Which is a fair question, because Coco looks genuinely distressed. Or at least extremely committed to the bit.

She shifts from a polite sit to a slow, dramatic slide onto her side. Then, she rolls to her back like a tiny actress staging her own tragic finale. All of this while keeping the bowl with her. The tail never stops. Not once.

Her mom, still trying to get the truth out of her, keeps repeating, “I don’t know… you always look hungry.” And Coco doubles down on the performance. The moment she hears the word dinner, she finally loosens her grip on the bowl — almost like she’s saying, “Ah, so you do remember that meal exists.”

The internet, obviously, ate it up. Over 224K likes, 3.3 million views, and a comments section full of amateur defense attorneys and comedians: “I’m her lawyer, and my client is starving.” “She’s actively PASSING OUT from hunger.” “Give that girl a meal and an OSCAR!!!”

And in case anyone is wondering whether indeed she was fed or not, Coco’s human lets us know in the caption: “The answer: I already had dinner.” What a performance, Coco!
