Video: Chihuahua Sits on Mom’s Bag To Stop Her From Leaving for Europe

Blondie may only weigh three pounds, but when she wants to make a point, the whole room feels it. In the latest video on @capitolhillchihuahua, the teacup pup proves just how clever and emotional she can be. Her mom is all packed for a European trip, but the Chihuahua clearly has other plans. Instead of pouting in the corner, she plants herself right on top of the bag, tiny paws dug in like she’s guarding the world’s most precious treasure. It is hard not to feel the weight of her protest because her big, teary eyes and body language say, “Don’t go, please.”

Chihuahua knows mom’s leaving her to go to Europe, so she stops her in video

The video has exploded in popularity, already pulling in more than 257k likes. And that’s because Blondie’s dramatic sit-in strikes the perfect balance between funny and heart-tugging. Her mom’s caption, “She knows I’m leaving and sat on my bag. Crying real tears!” is too real for anyone who has ever left a pet behind while travelling.

Chihuahuas are famously devoted companion dogs. They usually form very strong bonds with their main person. And this becomes somewhat of a problem when their human have to be away. Blondie is the best example of this kind of loyalty. Blondie never wants to get off the bag as her mom walks up and leans in to talk to the dog.

Her mom tries to apologize: “I’m so sorry, baby, I’m so sorry.” The little dog slumps even more, and you can see that her eyes are getting wet. As the mom tries to explain, she says softly, “You can’t come on the cruise, they don’t let Chihuahuas in.”

Blondie’s dramatic sadness suggests she is not listening to the rules. The emotional leverage works! Viewers were totally swayed by her dramatic protest. One fan immediately commented, “I’d have to cancel my trip if I saw this.” Another agreed with the tiny dog’s plight: “Cancel your vacation plans right now. Dog is devastated.”

Yet another person confessed that their own Chihuahua is the same way, saying, “The image stays in my brain the entire time I’m away! It hurts so bad. ” This only goes to show that separation anxiety is real for humans as well as their dogs!
