Living with a dog is never boring. They can be goofy, stubborn, affectionate, or impossibly clever all at the same time. Capris, a young foster dog in Chicago, recently showcased his unique charm in a video that quickly went viral. The clip shows how the pup won’t shake, sit, or follow a command until his human asks the “right” way.

Scott, who runs the Instagram page @4evertails and volunteers at animal shelters around Chicago, often shares videos of dogs looking for their forever homes. One of his latest posts features Capris, an 8-month-old Pit Bull mix, whose story has already melted the hearts of his followers.
Capris had been returned to animal control with a broken toe and a sniffly nose. Thanks to the Chicago Canine Rescue, he quickly landed in his first foster home with Scott, where he’s already showing his unique personality.
In a video posted on Scott’s page, the foster dog can be seen learning the ropes of his new environment. One of his endearing quirks is that he refuses to perform tricks unless asked politely. When the foster dad tries to get him to “shake,” Capris simply waits until he softens his tone, and then obliges.
Scott’s captions and clips also reveal other aspects of Capris’ life in the foster home. The young pup has already claimed his favorite spots for napping and takes his outdoor “gardening duties very seriously.”
Mealtime, however, proves to be Capris’ most challenging test of patience. He waits for Scott’s signal before approaching his bowl, sometimes needing extra time to resist the temptation. By the end of the day, the foster dog is completely worn out. The video captures a heartwarming scene of him carrying a stuffed toy to his crate. He then snuggles in and falls asleep as if he’s worked a full day.
“May we all learn to expect this politeness when asked to do something,” wrote one follower. Others expressed their wish for Capris to have a happy home. A user said, “I hope he goes to the most perfect home, he deserves the best.” Viewers were also charmed by the pup’s bond with Scott. One of them commented, “You need to keep your son… he’s clearly your baby.”
