Video proves Golden Retriever already knew what her sister’s name was going to be
If you’re thinking about bringing home a furry sibling for your dog, it’s best to let them make the important decisions. Doubling up on furballs is perhaps the best way to ensure your first fluff always has good company and a lifelong playmate. So, when this Golden Retriever’s owners decided to get her a sister, they documented a video of her freely choosing a name for the tiny and new member of their family.
Pearl’s dog mom introduced the post, explaining that they were letting their Golden girl choose a new name for her furry sister with a tennis ball toss. In the subsequent clip, the dad showed three balls with three different names, “Pepper,” “Piper,” and “Poppi,” before the deciding moment. The name-choosing ceremony took place in the backyard just as he tossed the three balls for the dog to fetch, and she instantly understood the assignment.
The video then showed the Golden Retriever returning with one of the three tennis balls, marking the final step of choosing her sister’s new name. After a momentary hitch and confusion, she hopped back to mom and dad with the ball and dropped it on the grass. It said “Poppi,” and so, a decision was made. Poppi and Pearl have since become an awesome sister duo and share frozen carrot treats when they’re not goofing around the house.
