In one household, the older sibling just so happens to be a sassy little Corgi, and her younger, much larger brother is doing everything he can to walk (and loaf) in her tiny paw prints. While the attempt is admirable, it’s also hilariously misinformed.

Maui, a Golden Retriever, and Ruby, a Corgi, are inseparable companions who live together under the same roof. According to a video posted on the Instagram account @maui_thegoldenpup, it appears Maui has taken sibling admiration to another level by trying to be just like Ruby. The result is a charming and funny compilation of moments that show the larger pup mimicking the smaller one’s every move.
The video opens with Maui in “Corgi loaf” mode, lying down with his legs tucked neatly under him, just like Ruby often does. The resemblance is spot on, and the visual gag only gets better. In the next clip, Maui attempts to hop into the trunk of a car, seemingly unaware that his much longer legs should make it easier. But, perhaps channeling his inner Corgi, he struggles as if he has Ruby’s short limbs. Finally, in a third moment, Maui tries to leap onto a water fountain but can’t quite make the jump, again appearing to think his legs are shorter than they are.
Maui’s owner sums it up in the caption with a bit of dry humor: “Corgi’s influence is so strong on Maui, he forgets how to properly use his legs.” It’s a fitting description of a dog who clearly doesn’t realize he’s not a Corgi.
