The clip begins with a standard call for Mayhem to “come,” but the dog remains unflinchingly still, seated in a bedroom. It wasn’t until the owner began to sing “Where Is May May?” — a playful adaptation of the children’s song “Where Is Thumbkin?” — that Mayhem sprang into action. The dog bounded over the couch and nestled himself next to his owner, eagerly responding to the melody.
Interestingly, this method of recall began when Mayhem was first rescued. The song was used to coax him out from under the bed where he would hide. Over time, it became a comforting and effective way to call him over. The owner explained that the song has become their go-to recall method, as it seems to be imprinted in Mayhem’s memory as a cue for safety and affection.
