Petties Awards ceremony moves to October

Important announcement for all pet bloggers and their readers: The Petties Awards have been moved to October 12, broadcasting at http://petties.dogtime.com at 3pm PST.

The Petties program was expanded this year to include the Unsung Hero Award. Its purpose is to honor a volunteer who has shown unique dedication to the animal welfare community, and it features a $10,000 donation to be given to the animal shelter of the recipient's choice.

“The response to this year’s awards program has been overwhelming,” said DogTime Media President Simon Tonner. “We were surprised by the number of nominations we received for the Unsung Hero Award and deeply touched by the stories shelter staff told about their volunteers.”

He added, “Out of respect for these hard working volunteers we are going to take the time to fully evaluate each and every nomination. We have a team of people reviewing each submission and every shelter, to ensure that we make the right choices.”

The Petties is the largest annual pet blog awards program on the Internet, with nearly 10,000 nominations and $30,000 in awards. Often referred to as the “Oscars of the pet blog community”, this year’s Petties will be the largest ever in terms of awards and donations.
