More than 50 dogs seeking forever homes at the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London got a special visitor today, as the Olympic Torch passed by the facility on its journey to open the 2012 games.

Football (soccer) striker Michael Owen carried the touch past the facility; the dog-loving athlete personally owns two French Bulldogs and three Staffordshire-Bull-Terriers. Owen held the leash of Rory, a Staffordshire-Bull-Terrier, as he passed by the locale. Rory is a Battersea resident who is looking for an owner.

The Battersea dogs wore their coats to greet their colleague on day 66 of the touch route.

You can find more information on the animals at the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home Facebook page.

The Olympics begin on Friday, July 27.

The Dog and Cat Home is located near the Battersea Power Station, the iconic locale that was featured on the cover of Pink Floyd’s 1977 album, Animals.
