8 Puppies Found Abandoned & Rescued From Carrier in Texas

On June 24, eight puppies were found abandoned and rescued from a hot carrier in Texas’s 100-degree weather. Fortunately, the litter was saved just in time, as there was no water in the vehicle, and the situation could have been much worse. The authorities have yet to provide further details about the case.

Litter of puppies found abandoned in 100-degree heat, rescued from carrier by officers

On Monday, the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office rescued eight abandoned puppies from a carrier. The vehicle had been left in a field, and the pups were without water in the 100-degree heat, per People. Thankfully, a Good Samaritan spotted the canines and reported the case immediately. The officers promptly saved the litter and handed it to Fort Worth Animal Care & Control for further examination and care.

The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office posted pictures of the puppies in the police car on Facebook. In the post, one of the officers can be seen splashing water on a little one lying in the backseat of the car to help cool them down. The Sheriff’s office also noted that they will be up for adoption sometime this week. However, the Fort Worth Animal Care & Control will first run some medical examinations on them.

Leaving animals in a vehicle during summer can prove fatal, as they can quickly start heating up. This can lead to heat exhaustion, dehydration, and, in worse cases, heat stroke. Several beloved pets often pass away after being left in a hot car.

Many believe cracking open a window and leaving their dog with some water is more than enough. However, opening the window by a smidge doesn’t provide your canine companion with enough airflow to help them keep cool in the soaring temperatures. Moreover, the situation worsens if the vehicle isn’t parked under shade. So, it is best to leave your furry friend back home if you are heading to a place where they can’t accompany you.
