Editor's Picks: Dog Chew Toys

Our favorite chew toys are the ones that pack a little extra punch. That is, they get your dog's brain--as well as his canines--working. Interactive toys usually require your pup to figure out how to get a treat that is somehow locked or hidden inside. Kongs were the original puzzle chew toy, but there are now plenty of durable, fun options to choose from, all of which provide your pup those much-needed mental workouts.

Is there a dog chew toy you love that's not on our list? Post a comment and let us know.

Nina Ottoson's interactive dog toys from johannthedog.com ($45)

Busy Buddy Tug-a-Jug toy from muttropolis.com ($13 - $20)

Not technically interactive, but so cute we couldn't resist, from Doggie Couture Shop ($18)

Otis and Claude Bettie Fetch toy from EntirelyPets.com ($9.99 - $13.99)

Img_1013_thumbnailIf anybody's dog is like mine, the busy buddy toy shown will last 2 seconds. He does real will with the other busy buddy bone toys that you put rawhide in or the "tire" toys. Another great toy that has lasted is a bone that is peanut butter flavored called 'wagwear'.” — andrea, Jul 19 2009

Scan_thumbnailI have 2 of the Nina Ottosons toys and LOVE them!! I also have the dog pyramids that she makes and they keep my pups busy for hours. Other favorites are the Tug-a-Jug, Everlasting treat ball and of course, Kongs stuffed and frozen.

Img_3131_thumbnailI love, love, LOVE the Everlasting Treat Ball! You can buy their special treats to stick in the sides or just put your own dog's treats in the middle. My dog destroys everything, and this has lasted at least 30 cookie hunting expeditions. It really is indestructible. It keeps my 75lb chewer busy for quite awhile. She also likes to chew it when there's nothing in it. It bounces around and she likes to chase it. Best of all, it's dishwasher safe!!” — Michelle Gun..., Apr 08 2009
