A Dream Dog Park is just a vote away

Hi, I’m Rocket. I’m a CorgiPit Bull mix (it was a wild night). I have short, little legs and a wide body. Sometimes, I wear a fashionable striped sweater. I’m really lucky to live in California’s lovely East Bay. Each day I’m able to enjoy an expansive dog park. I get to run off leash, bound through the tall grass, explore hiking trails, chase squirrels, take refreshing dips in the Bay, and meet lots of new friends. Every day is a brand new, exciting adventure.

I love my park, but I’ve heard that some of my canine campadres aren’t quite so fortunate. While we dogs possess the innate ability to make the most of any play area, I’ve heard some dog parks out there aren’t much more than a fenced-in dirt patch with a poop bag dispenser. What a bummer. I wish all dogs had an incredibly fun, interactive, and safe place to exercise.

Some pretty fetching park concepts were submitted to the 2013 Beneful® Dream Dog Park Contest. Now you and your pooch actually have the opportunity to help choose the Grand Prize Winner from the 14 creative finalists. One vote may be placed per day until December 5, 2013.

Your input will aid Beneful and its team of talented designers in deciding which lackluster dog park will receive a $500,000 complete park makeover. In addition to having a magical dog park constructed in the contest winner’s area, the Grand Prize Winner will also be awarded $10,000 and a full year of Beneful dry dog food.

The Beneful Dream Team consists of three nationally acclaimed individuals. Nate Berkus, designer and New York Times best-selling author, is well known for being a featured design expert for the Oprah Winfrey Show. You may be familiar with licensed home improvement contractor and personal trainer, Jason Cameron, as a former carpenter on TLC’s While You Were Out, or as the host of DIY Network’s Man Caves and Desperate Landscapes. Dubbed “America’s Pet Edu-Trainer,” Arden Moore is a pet behavior expert, certified pet first aid instructor, and the enthusiastic radio host of a No. 1 pet podcast, “Oh Behave!” This accomplished Dream Team will implement elements from the winning design into the final park layout. While embracing and honoring the unique features of the local community, a safe, joyful space will be created for all to enjoy.

Past winning Beneful Dream Dog Park designs have included the likes of agility hoops, splash gardens, doggie tunnels, bridges to climb, and even a whimsical tennis ball tree. The wide array of engaging park activities has served as a catalyst for lasting bonds between dog, human, and community as a whole.

You have the power to influence positive change that will enrich the lives of hundreds of dogs and their humans — just by voting. I’m voting now, so other dogs will feel as happy and fulfilled as I do, each and every day.
