Golden Retriever Sees Something Flying Outside, but His Reaction Is Way Bigger Than the Threat

The backyard has a strange new addition, and Buddy would very much like it to disappear. A plastic bag blows past the glass window, catches his attention, and quickly becomes the only thing Buddy is watching. In the video shared by @andrewirizk, it is obvious that this Golden Retriever is scared of the plastic bag.

He studies the strange object from inside the house before it starts moving toward him again. That is when curiosity gives way to panic. He backs away, tucks his tail, and crouches down despite a perfectly solid glass door between them, so much for being the household security team.

The video opens with the plastic bag moving around outside while the text jokes about getting a Golden Retriever to protect the house. Then the camera turns to Buddy. He is standing inside, watching the bag carefully as it comes to a stop for a moment. He seems curious about it, but he is clearly not convinced that it belongs in the yard.

Buddy keeps watching the bag as though it might suddenly make another move. The funny part is that the glass window is between them the entire time. Whatever Buddy thinks the bag might do, it cannot actually get to him.

Then the bag starts moving again. This time, it blows in Buddy’s direction. Buddy immediately backs away. His tail tucks between his legs, he startles more than once, and then lowers himself as he retreats farther into the room. Dad cannot help but laugh.

The video has picked up more than 106,000 likes, and the comments are full of jokes about Buddy’s unexpected approach to home security.

One person summed it up perfectly: “They don’t offer protection, they NEED protection.” Another commenter shared that their own Golden once came running, thinking something had entered the yard, only to discover it was a soccer ball.

And one viewer had perhaps the fairest assessment of all: “No one ever thought a golden would protect the house lol.” Buddy may be a brave Golden Retriever, but on this particular day, he is very much scared of a plastic bag.
