That is exactly what happened to Hank, who appeared to believe his visitor was leaving him behind before learning she had other plans.

A video shared by @kaja_macho captures the moment Hank’s life changed when a woman named Kaja came to visit him at the shelter. The clip begins with Hank standing behind the kennel bars as text reads, “Thanks for visiting me at the shelter. Have a nice life.” The message makes it seem as though Hank believes his visitor is about to leave and move on with her day.

The next scene shows the woman’s point of view, with the text, “Thanks, you too!” However, Hank soon discovers that the goodbye was not what he thought it was. “Me too?,” the text reads from Hank’s perspective.

That is when the surprise becomes clear. The woman responds, “Of course you are coming with me,” revealing that the visit was not simply to end in a goodbye. The video then shows Kaja completing Hank’s adoption paperwork. Shortly after, the dog leaves the shelter and arrives at his new home, beginning a completely different chapter of his life.

A montage shows Hank getting comfortable in his new surroundings and spending time with his new owner. He also appears to have gained a canine sibling. The two dogs are shown playing together and beginning to form a bond. The post’s caption summed up the milestone with a message from Hank’s new family: “Adopted. Loved. Home.
