‘Terrified’ Shelter Dog Is Barely Given a Chance Before His Fate Is Sealed

The environment inside the shelter can be noisy, unfamiliar, and overwhelming. Peanut has been struggling to cope with his new surroundings. He was soon deemed “behavioral.”

The term is generally used to describe dogs displaying behaviors associated with fear, anxiety, or other challenges that may require additional care and training. Caregivers shared that Peanut is extremely scared inside the shelter. It is hardly surprising, given how overwhelming a noisy and unfamiliar environment can be for vulnerable dogs. He simply needed time to feel safe and understand that he was not in danger. However, his fear has now become part of the reason his future is at risk.

Just four days after arriving, Peanut received a deadline. But his fear does not mean he is aggressive, and it certainly does not mean he is hopeless. He may simply be confused, frightened, and in desperate need of someone willing to give him a chance and show him that he is safe.

Peanut has not yet had the opportunity to meet someone who could look beyond his fear, take him out of the shelter, and help him discover the beauty of life outside those kennel walls. He is currently at the San Bernardino City Shelter, where he urgently needs help. Peanut simply needs someone to see past his fear and give him a chance that every dog deserves.
