Every visitor who walks into the shelter gets the same warm welcome from Cassie. The six-month-old dog seems convinced that each new face belongs to the family she’s been waiting for. Her boundless affection, paired with her resilient spirit, has touched thousands after a shelter shared her story online. Now, many are hoping the next human she greets will finally take her home.

The touching video, shared by @lancasteranimalslaco, introduces Cassie through a series of clips that highlight just how much she loves people. As shelter staff stop to pet her and shower her with attention, the young German Shepherd mix happily leans into every scratch and stroke, soaking up every bit of affection she can get. Text displayed in the video sums up her personality: “Six month old Cassie thinks every person is HER person.”
The shelter also shared more about Cassie’s background. She arrived as a stray with a limp, prompting staff to have her evaluated by their medical team. They later determined that the limp was the result of an old injury rather than a recent one. Despite that setback, Cassie hasn’t let it affect her outlook. The video points out that the injury “hasn’t slowed her down,” adding that she is more than ready to find a family of her own.
“Cassie is still a baby, just six months old, and so full of love and joy,” the shelter wrote in the caption. They explained that she greets every new person “like they’ve been besties forever,” making it clear that her trust in people remains as strong as ever.
The shelter also reflected on her resilience, noting that nothing about Cassie suggests she has given up despite the challenges she has faced. Instead, they wrote that she reminds them that joy can endure even after difficult experiences.
According to the post, Cassie is listed as A5787890. She weighs 26.4 pounds and is currently available for adoption pending her spay procedure.
