If you’ve ever met a Golden Retriever, you know they’re rarely shy about asking for attention. Most are happy to greet anyone willing to stop, but one particularly social pup decided every single person at the park deserved a visit. A recent Instagram video shows Joey happily collecting pets from strangers as though it were part of his daily routine.
Golden Retriever makes sure everyone gives him pets at the Park
Posted by @joey_how_u_doinnn, the clip shows Joey happily making his way across the park. He is captured, greeting one person after another with the confidence of someone who assumes everyone is there to see him. Instead of sticking to one group, he moves from visitor to visitor, eagerly collecting pets before continuing on his rounds.
The text over the video reads, “Watching my dog hustle to get pets from every single person at the park,” and it quickly becomes clear that Joey takes the assignment very seriously. As he wanders through the park, Joey is welcomed by plenty of smiling strangers. Some stop for a quick scratch behind the ears or a gentle pat on the head. Meanwhile, others kneel to give him longer belly rubs and plenty of attention.
No interaction seems too small for the affectionate dog, who happily accepts every bit of affection before heading off in search of his next admirer. His owner summed up Joey’s philosophy in the caption, writing, “No one may leave without a pet.”
That wasn’t much of an exaggeration. Near the end of the clip, Joey notices someone walking away and immediately runs after them, seemingly worried that he might have missed an opportunity for another greeting. According to his owner, he wanted to make sure he “hasn’t missed a single one.”
The video quickly filled with comments from viewers who found Joey’s determination both hilarious and completely fitting for a Golden Retriever. One person joked, “what happened to don’t talk to strangers,” while another wrote, “I think your dog likes humans more than dogs.”
Others noticed his approach to choosing new friends. “In true golden retriever style he gravitates mostly towards anyone in a clean black pant and leans in,” one commenter wrote. Many admitted they would have gladly stopped to spoil Joey if they had crossed paths with him.
