Puppy Follows Big Furry Brother & Jumps Straight Into Water

Younger dogs often pick up habits and behaviors by watching the older pets around them. From learning how to play to building confidence in unfamiliar situations, having a furry sibling can encourage puppies to try things they may normally avoid. That’s exactly what happened in a video shared on Instagram by @goldenchilidog, where a puppy named Stevie stunned her owner after copying her big furry brother Chili and jumping straight into the water.

Puppy can’t wait to follow big furry brother as she makes big jump into water

At the beginning of the clip, the onscreen text reads, “I did not expect my puppy to do this…” as both Golden Retrievers stand near the edge of a lake, looking out at the water below. Chili appears completely confident as he launches himself into the lake without hesitation.

Stevie, however, initially seems unsure. She pauses near the edge and watches closely as her older brother repeatedly jumps into the water. According to the owner, Chili had already done “4 jumpies” while Stevie stayed on the sidelines observing him. But after watching long enough, the puppy finally decided to go for it herself.

Moments later, Stevie takes a leap into the water right behind Chili, surprising both viewers and her owner. Though nervous at first, she quickly paddles confidently beside her brother. The two dogs are then seen swimming together across the lake, looking perfectly at ease in the water.

Their owner later joked in the caption that Stevie is officially “done sitting on the sidelines,” adding that she was shocked the puppy actually followed through with the jump. She also praised her courage, calling her “brave Stevie.”

Viewers quickly flooded the comments section with encouragement for the puppy’s big moment. One person wrote, “STEVIE YOUR SO BRAVE,” while another joked, “She’s ready to upgrade from goldfish-in-training to official goldfish.”

Others couldn’t get over how fearless the puppy looked despite her small size. “The jump to size ratio of that girly! Amazing job Stevie pup!” one commenter wrote. Another added, “she’ll definitely be a little swimmer!” Some viewers also focused on the adorable image of the two dogs paddling back to shore together. “They look like little golden otters coming to shore,” one comment read.
