Watching a new puppy learn how their own little body works is always a joy. And at @the.golden.girl.maple, an AKC Golden Retriever named Maple is still getting used to things like floors, balance, and apparently sitting.
What should be the easiest thing turns into a whole ordeal, and she genuinely looks confused by it. The clip is simple, just her on a hardwood floor, but it’s one of those moments that feels very real. You can tell she’s trying, and you can also tell it’s not going according to plan.
Owner captures Golden Retriever puppy slipping while sitting in cutest way possible
Maple sits on the floor looking away from the camera when the clip begins. But all of a sudden, her bottom and legs start to slide back in slow motion. It really looks like she has zero control over her traction.
She turns to look at her human, who is filming, once her legs have slid too far away, as if looking for clues. Then she scoots forward to try to stabilize herself. The in-video text says, “When I sits, I always slips.”
Another clip shows the same struggle from a different diagonal angle. Her tiny front paws stay planted while her back end drifts away. It is hilarious to watch her confusion during these unintended “puppy pushups,” as one viewer called them in the comments.
Another Golden friend commented that they also have to practice their “sits” at home. And yet another mentioned that the daily struggle is very real for them, too.
Maple seems to have no idea why the floor is “so hekkin slippery.” She just keeps adjusting her position with a very serious face. The video has already earned over 1,700 likes because people love her resilience.
One fellow Golden Retriever owner noted that it does not get any easier with age. Another person said their family loves it when they do the same slide. Maple is definitely the cutest girl in Washington right now. She simply accepts the sliding as part of her new routine.
