There is nothing quite like the sight of a bored dog (or four) suddenly finding their purpose in life again. At the Instagram account @the3retrievers, Melanie Joy and her four therapy dogs are celebrating the return of summer.
Winston, Archie, Oakley, and Gus usually spend their time helping others, but this Golden Retriever pack is finally starting their lake adventures after a very long wait. They begin the morning looking like they are each having an existential crisis. They lie around the hallway listlessly, but everything changes the moment they realize they are heading to the water.

The clip quickly moves to the drive over, and we see three happy snouts hanging out of the car window in the rearview mirror. They look out at the road with huge smiles. The clip shows that happiness really is contagious.
This breed is naturally built for water and swimming, and their thick coats and webbed paws make them perfect for a day at the shore. They look so much better than they did when they were moping in the hallway.
The door to the deck finally opens, and the crew races toward the sand. They run down the deck and head straight for the water. One of the boys launches himself right off the jetty. Two others run to the very end to watch him splash. Actually, the Golden Retriever pack looks much happier now that their lake adventures are officially happening.
One runs back to the human filming, tail wagging. Another takes a massive leap into the deep part. They look like they are in heaven. Three of them spend time paddling around in the shallow spots, looking very happy and very wet.
The footage then cuts to the drive back home. The interior of the car is now full of passed-out dogs. They are all slumped in different positions in the backseat.
