Video: Dog Is Surprised He Didn’t Get His Evening Snack on Time

Forgetting snack time is perhaps one of the biggest crimes a pet parent can commit. And in this video, Charlie, a Springer Spaniel, is standing by the cabinet, making it very clear he won’t be ignored. He’s the star of @agirlandherspaniel_, and he’s decided his internal clock is much more accurate than his owner’s. In this viral video, the adamant dog is staging a silent protest right where his treats are hidden away. To be clear, he isn’t making a loud scene or barking. But he is definitely waiting for his evening snack with a look of pure, concentrated hope.

Dog can’t believe his evening snack is delayed

Charlie stands there with a face full of expectation while his tail just keeps wagging. Being a Springer Spaniel, he has that famous persistence and isn’t about to give up anytime soon. But when he realizes his human isn’t moving fast enough, he takes a deep sniff of the cabinet drawer. And then he looks right at her. It’s a very pointed stare that says he knows the schedule better than she does.

He even starts doing some high-energy “tippy taps” as he backs away, underlining, italicizing, and bolding his point. He is trying his best to show her where the treats are, but his mom is just busy filming the whole standoff. When she asks him, “really boy?!” his expression changes to total confusion because he cannot understand why they are talking instead of eating.

Charlie comes back for another sniff of the drawers. And then he looks at her with eyes that show a little bit of betrayal. Everyone knows how hard it is to resist those puppy eyes when they are looking directly into your soul. One viewer joked that this is just the “universal spaniel parent experience,” while watching the video of his protest.

Another person noted that he’s currently at “stage 1” and will probably start pawing at the cupboard if the food doesn’t appear. Snack times are sacrosanct for any dog, and this video shows that Charlie will not be satisfied until that drawer finally opens for his evening snack.
