On Instagram, user @truffleupagus_ shared a video of Truffles, an AKC Red Fox English Labrador, and a tiny human partner in crime hanging out beside a shallow pool of muddy water in the yard.
The video opens with the little one crouched at the edge, while Truffles lies down near the puddle. His front paws are digging and splashing the muddy water as if he is trying to excavate buried treasure with his toddler friend, and the scene is purely chaotic.
Labrador and tiny human are hanging out by a pool of mud
In the video, the Labrador shoves his nose into the water with the tiny human by his side. He blows bubbles and rakes his paws through the muck, while the toddler seems fascinated with whatever the dog is doing. Eventually, everything winds up coated. The caption under the video speaks on behalf of the dog, reading, “I love water & mud! ?????” And he seems to truly do.
By the end, Truffles looks up with his tongue out and mud caked across his chest and legs, but he looks like he has zero regrets.
The comment section loved whatever was going on with the dog and the tiny human in the video, with one viewer writing, “Hahah same friend same ?,” while another added, “??this made me laugh.”
Pairing a Labrador with a tiny human works out great because this breed was originally bred to retrieve in cold water, so most of them light up around anything wet, even if it is mud, like in this video. Rolling and splashing help cool them down and give them a ton of sensory stimulation. Besides, toddlers respond the same way to messy play, so they love the feel of mud between their fingers and the sound of splashing water.
Put those two together, and you end up with a tiny human and a big Labrador, totally in sync over the joy of making a ridiculous mess in this video.
