Imagine you’re finally settled in for a nap, cozy and undisturbed. Suddenly, you feel a tap on your head. You ignore it, hoping it goes away. Then it happens again. That’s the daily reality for one Golden Retriever named Nala, whose brother has made it his mission to turn every quiet moment into playtime, as seen in a now-viral Instagram video posted by @nalabance.
Golden Retriever has a unique habit when asking sister to play with him in video
The short montage shows several clips of Buddy approaching Nala while she is resting on the couch. Rather than barking or bringing her a toy, he gently but deliberately “bonks” her on the head with his paw. Then he pauses, watching her closely as if waiting for a response.
On-screen text sums it up: “Whenever Bud wants Nala to play he bonks her on the head and waits.” The routine appears to be a regular occurrence in their home. In clip after clip, Nala is seen lounging comfortably, only to be interrupted by Buddy’s persistent tap.
Nala’s reactions vary slightly. Sometimes she lifts her head slowly and gives him a look that indicates confusion and annoyance. Other times, she lets out a low growl, clearly unimpressed with the interruption. Despite her protests, Buddy remains hopeful, standing nearby with an expectant expression as though convinced she will eventually give in.
Toward the end of the clip, Nala finally lets out what the owner describes as a sigh. The caption points out: “Her sigh at the end.”
The comments section quickly filled with amused reactions. One viewer imagined Buddy’s internal thoughts, writing, “Must play immediately.” Another said, “That one friend in the group who is always looking for trouble,” comparing him to a mischievous companion who can’t sit still. A third shared, “I just love these two, reminds me of ours when there was two,” reflecting on how common sibling-style antics are among dogs.
