Mama Dog Teaches Her Newborn Pups Boundaries in Funny Video

There is a certain look a mother gives when she has finally reached her limit for the day. Harley is currently in that exact headspace. She is a Cane Corso living in Australia with her breeder, Jana Aquilina. Over at @aquacanine_, a new clip shows that even the most patient parents need a break. This Mama dog is hanging out in her pen in the video, with a bunch of tiny puppies around. And they are being a bit much. They keep crowding her face while she is just trying to rest on her mat.

So Harley starts the first lesson. It is all about boundaries. She lets out a low growl. The pups are too close to her snout. She isn’t being mean. But she is saying enough is enough. In the best way possible. You can’t be nice and assert some boundaries, especially with puppies. The Mama dog makes sure these little guys know to back off in the video.

It really looks like she is just done with the personal space invasion for now. One puppy wobbles away immediately. But another one is a bit more stubborn. He tries to reach her face again. Harley gives him a very sharp look. She growls until he backs up. He whines a little and looks at her. “Harley teaching her kids enough is enough,” Jana explains. This behavior is just teaching boundaries. It isn’t aggressive. It is just how they learn to respect others.

It’s a tough job being a parent. But she is doing great. She keeps a close watch on everyone. Her eyes shift between the pups. She won’t let them near her for a moment. One viewer joked she gave the “school cafeteria look” to that little one. They said she looked like she was saying there are no more green beans.

These lessons are great for the pups. It helps them learn respect before they go to new homes. Those puppies will probably be back for a milkshake in ten minutes. But for now, Harley gets her peace. She just needs a minute to herself.
