Rescue Pup Gets Trained To Be an ‘Alarm Clock’ in Cute Video

Many pet parents joke that they don’t need an alarm clock when they have a dog at home. From early morning nudges to excited tail wags, dogs often take it upon themselves to make sure their humans start the day on time. For one rescue pup, that natural enthusiasm has turned into an official role.

A recent Instagram video shared by Mike Brown, who runs the account @cactustherescue, shows him training his rescue pup, Cactus, to serve as a morning “alarm clock” for his mom.

Rescue pup does this during training to be an ‘alarm clock’

The video opens with Cactus sitting attentively as Brown asks him if he wants to wake up his mom. Text over the clip reads, “Training my dog to be an alarm clock.” The pup appears focused and eager, watching closely for his cue. As soon as Brown gives the command to get her, Cactus springs into action.

He runs down the hallway and into the bedroom, where his mom is still tucked under the covers. Without hesitation, he hops onto the bed and moves toward her, clearly excited about his important task. His body language says it all — wagging tail, alert ears, and a soft whine that sounds like he can barely contain himself.

His mom wakes up almost instantly and greets him with the same level of enthusiasm. The interaction becomes even more animated when she asks if he wants to go for a walk. At the mention of the word “walk,” Cactus’s ears perk up. According to Brown’s caption, weekend mornings are Cactus’s favorite because waking her up usually means outdoor time follows. “It’s his favorite way to start the day,” he wrote.

Viewers flooded the comments with praise for the adorable routine. One person pointed out Cactus’s “little whine of excitement” as he prepared to wake his mom. Another wrote that it clearly shows how much he loves her and how thrilled he is to see her first thing in the morning. Others chimed in, calling him the “best alarm clock to wake up to,” with one joking that they wanted a “Cactus alarm clock” of their own.

Many agreed that waking up to that kind of affection would put anyone in a good mood. Judging by the smiles in the video, it’s safe to say Cactus is more than qualified for his new job.
