Video: Labrador Puppy Is Surprisingly Calm During Vet Visit

A Labrador puppy from @austin_n_william_labrador’s Instagram video treated a vet visit like a casual stop to finish his nap. In the adorable video, the sleepy little English Lab’s owner carries him into the clinic in the middle of his nap, and once awake, he decides it’s not worth making a scene. His owner places him on the exam table, and he stays there like a loaf, melting hearts across the internet.

Labrador pup doesn’t panic at all during vet exam

The staff in the video does not rush the Labrador puppy. His owner places his head on her arm, another person steadies him, while the vet starts the exam, checking his ear first. Surprisingly, the puppy barely reacts. When the vet moves to his jaw, he finally fidgets, blinks himself awake, lifts his head, but still maintains the same calm energy.

He lets the vet continue with his eyes open now, in a polite manner. No thrashing or dramatic protests — he is just a baby dog, possibly trying to figure out why so many people have surrounded him.

The video creator gives off a “I told you so” tone in the caption, writing, “You didn’t believe me when I said English labs were calm? English labradors are calm and wonderful pups,” and adding, “We caught this pup in a nap. He’ll be frisking about when he gets home.” Moreover, they called it their “favorite clip from the vet the other day,” noting, “These pups head home first week of January.”

The comment section thought that this might be the calm before the storm. One viewer joked, “Born loafing,” while another warned, “Enjoy the sofa spud time, it’s going to change!” A third commenter predicted, “Someone is in for a major surprise in about 3 months.”

A reason why the appointment might have gone so smoothly is that the pup started it asleep. Dogs can stay groggy for a bit after waking, and that drowsy window, along with gentle handling, can make a vet visit tolerable. But for now, this little Labrador puppy put on his best professional face in the video.
