Video: Two Dogs React To Being Left Alone With Favorite Food

Walking away from a plate of snacks and expecting it to be there when you get back is a big gamble in a multi-pet household. Especially when the pets involved have a reputation for eating anything in sight. The Moriarty family tested their luck in a recent post on @imbluethesiberian. In the video, they put their two dogs through a serious willpower test involving their favorite food. Maverick and Bauer are both Golden Retrievers. This breed usually lives to eat, so leaving them alone with their favorite food is risky. Maverick starts the test sitting at the table. He looks like a very good boy, but then… something hilarious happens.

Two Dogs’ reaction to owner leaving them alone with favorite food is hilarious

After the dad leaves the room, that’s when Maverick starts to struggle. You can see the conflict in his eyes. He looks at the hot dog, then looks away. He tries to be strong, but the smell is just too good. The dog puts a paw on the table, he checks to see if anyone is looking, and then he just goes for it. Maverick snags the whole thing, first hesitantly, then wholly. “Where did my hotdog go?” his dad asks, entering the frame again. But the Golden Retriever is already gone. He is busy finishing “his” hot dog.

Then it is Bauer’s turn. Things get really messy here. He starts drooling almost the second the plate hits the table. He looks completely confused. Usually, nobody leaves him alone with a snack this good. He tries to be a good boy for about two seconds. But then he makes a quick decision. He jumps right up and grabs it. He even drops half of it and has to go back for the rest.

And he doesn’t stop there. He picks up the entire plate in his mouth, much like his food bowls in other videos. The clip has over 31,000 likes already. People are losing it over Bauer’s grab-and-go technique. One person joked that he is starting a collection of emotional dinnerware.

Another fan pointed out that they are retrievers, so they were just retrieving the meat. It was basically their job. “I mean this went wayyy better than expected…” the owners wrote. It really is surprising that the table stayed upright.
