Video: Golden Retriever’s Walk Gets Extra Enriching Thanks to This Clever Trick

Walking the dog in the snow is never easy. So, to make things easier and fun for her and her Golden Retriever, this dog mom came up with an idea that not only enriched the pup walk but also tired him out by the end. The clever trick to make the Golden Retriever play and walk seems to be applauded by many followers; as a result, this video has garnered more than 1K likes at the time of writing.

Golden Retriever gets to find his treat in snow in adorable video

Be it Golden Retrievers or any other breed, a walk is a must for their health and needs. However, walking in the snow might not always be easy. So, to ensure that her Golden Retriever Hudson’s needs are still “fulfilled” during the harsh weather, this dog mom, Maria, came up with a clever trick to “tire out” her pet pooch “without freezing.”

Maria uploaded the trick on @hudsonstaysgolden to help other paw parents in a similar situation. To start with, the mom takes the “Smiling Golden Retriever” on a “short walk to do his business.” After that, she hides “his favorite treats in the snow” and asks the “school therapy dog” to find his treat in the snow by using “the word seek.”

Since the snow is “too icy to run,” the mom lets him work “his nose” to sniff his favourite treat. She believes, as she says in the in-video text, “10 minutes of enrichment is more meaningful than a 30 min walk.” Plus, this whole game “exhausts him” by the end.

Lastly, she “warms” her “hand with a good boop.” Maria absolutely loves watching his “happy boy” work. “The sound of his nose sniffing is music to my ears,” the mom confessed in the caption.

And it seems the trick impresses many paw parents as well, as one follower said, “This is such a fun idea! He’s SO Cute!!” While another person mentioned, “Such a fun idea!” Hudson’s actions also impressed some of the dog lovers. One person commented, “Good boy.” Another pet lover said, “I love the exuberance.  Hudson is living his best life.”
