Video: Big Dog Takes a Few Steps Back After Cat Lifts Paw

Sitting in the middle of a living room standoff is not where you expect to see a big dog who has spent months in training. Riggie the Bernese Mountain Dog has been taking competition obedience classes. As his humans tell us, he is also learning how to be “civilized.” But then a new feline roommate moves in, and everything changes. The video from @riggietheberner shows that fancy classes don’t mean much for a dog when a cat is in the room. Riggie is huge and powerful, but he has a very sweet soul, and this is a very one-sided situation.

Hilarious video shows how easy it is for the cat to handle the big dog

Daphne the cat sits perfectly still. Riggie’s tail? Wagging. He is hesitant. But as soon as she lifts her paw, he drops into a play bow. He starts bouncing around in front of her. She keeps swatting at the air. She doesn’t even touch him. But he reacts every single time. It is like she is actually controlling his limbs with her paw. The music in the background is “Black Magic Woman,” which seems too apt for this moment. What else can explain the cat’s utter control over this dog?

Riggie leaps and retreats, and it looks like he is dancing. “Cats always rule the roost!” his owner wrote in the caption. Yes, sir. This dog takes his training seriously. He recently did a practice trial for obedience and did great. But with the kitty, he just breaks character. He goes around and hides behind his own bed on the floor. He treats it like a barrier. From back there, he lets out a bark and another bow. Daphne just continues to look at him unamused.

One viewer said he was “trained to be civilized with people,” not cats. “Riggie is super excited to have a buddy,” another fan noted. It is just too funny to see a large dog get managed by a tiny cat paw. And the cat definitely has those “ninja moves” that everyone is laughing at. 15,000 people have already liked the clip because the dynamic is simply too relatable.
