Bruce the Golden Retriever puppy has one job in this adorable video, and it is to wait. No park visits or making new dog friends on the sidewalk, because the Instagram video from user @brucewiththefur explains that the Golden Retriever is still under that early puppy “quarantine” period while he finishes his vaccines. And he definitely looks like he is taking it personally.
Golden Retriever pup spends time by the window instead
In the video, the Golden Retriever puppy posts up at the window, balancing on his back legs, like a tiny prisoner with the best view in the house. He plants his front paws on the windowsill and stares out at the world like it’s a party noone invited him to. Meanwhile, the on-screen caption clarifies the context: “waiting to be fully vaccinated be like…”
The only thing funnier than Bruce’s curious looks is that the video is set to Jodi Benson’s “Part of Your World” from the movie, “The Little Mermaid,” including the lyrics, “I wanna be where the people are / I wanna see, wanna see ’em dancin’,” and later, “Walking around on those, what do you call ’em? / Oh, feet.” And it is hard to watch Bruce yearning out the window without hearing Ariel in your head.
Other pet parents joined the comments with the same countdown energy. One wrote, “My Mabel is right there with you! Patiently, patiently waiting,” while another chimed in with, “Right there with you! We are in the home stretch… can’t wait.” And a third user summarized the struggle with, “It’s so tough. Hang in there!! You’ll be free before you know it.”
If you have lived through puppy vaccine weeks, you will understand the Golden Retriever’s struggle in the video, too. Until puppies finish their shots, many owners limit outdoor time in public areas to reduce the risk of picking up illnesses. So, Bruce can’t hit the streets yet, leaving him with no choice but to watch them as if he is desperately for freedom. Right now, though, he can only dream.
