Video: Dog Instantly Walks Backward When She Spots the Shampoo

Runa usually has zero concept of personal space until the exact second she smells a bath coming. Being a “kind soul” from Portugal, this Staffordshire Bull Terrier from @runastaffy usually follows her mom everywhere. The bathroom is no exception to this rule either. Unless she is the one being bathed, that is where she draws the line.

In this video, the dog trotted toward the open door, expecting a cuddle, only to find her mom just standing there. Waiting. Holding a bottle of shampoo. The look on this dog’s face is just pure, unadulterated “nope.”

The way she handles the situation is honestly top-tier comedy. She isn’t even fully in the room yet — just her head and neck are visible — when she catches sight of the shampoo bottle. And then she just… starts backing up. No turning around to run. No dramatic barking. Just a slow, steady reverse gear.

The close-up shot is the best part because you can see her smacking her lips in pure terror. “Gone immediately,” the caption says, and yeah, she was out of there before the shampoo bottle was even opened. One commenter nailed it by saying, “The only time they give you privacy.”

Staffies are known for having a super high pain tolerance and being “giant babies” who love sleeping under duvets, yet a single bottle of shampoo is the ultimate villain. She’s probably halfway across the house by now. Another person voices what Runa must be thinking, “Huh… was that the door??? Gotta eh … go huh,” and it’s so true. “Betrayal!!!!” another fan yelled in the comments, and with 60.7k likes on the video, it’s obvious everyone has felt that cold, judgmental stare from a pet.

After she backed up, we guess Runa must have just waited for the “danger” to pass so she could go back to being a Velcro dog. It is pretty funny how they can be so energetic and brave until they see a plastic bottle they don’t like.
