Video: Golden Retriever Puppy Makes Plans of Her Own When Owner Hits the Tub

Scientists should probably spend more time studying how puppy brains work because their logic is honestly baffling. The plan was simple: a warm bath, a few peaceful minutes, and no one needing anything. But Winnie’s mom, who shares their life over at @the.golden.girl.winnie, learned very quickly that this was not going to be a solo activity. When the video starts, we already see this Golden Retriever puppy dangling over the tub’s rim. She seems to think “sharing is caring” applies to bathwater, too.

The video opens mid-chaos with Winnie deciding to join her mom for her bath time. Her mom films from within the tub as Winnie’s front paws begin to flail against the porcelain. She tries to pull herself in, essentially swimming through the air with her upper body. Eventually, she finds some traction and hauls her hind legs over the side.

She looks incredibly proud of this athletic achievement. One viewer joked, “Mum go in bath…. me go in bath,” which seems to be precisely what’s going through her head. If you live with a Golden Retriever, you already know water is rarely considered off-limits.

Then the video cuts to this very soggy Golden Retriever puppy standing in one corner of the bathtub. She looks down at a red-and-blue toy floating nearby with curiosity. Her front paws rest on the rim, dripping a steady stream of water onto the bath mat below. There’s not a single ounce of remorse on her face as she stands there innocently. So much for mom’s “me time.”

The comment section is obsessed with her lack of boundaries. One person noted that moms never actually get alone time, only “quality time” with a beautiful puppy. Another fan captured the mood perfectly, imagining Winnie thinking, “I’ll just uh.. scooch on in here.” Closed doors tend to be taken as a personal insult when there’s a dog in the house.
