Video: Golden Retriever’s Ice Trick Takes an Unexpected Turn

Living with a “boingy boy” like Summit means your kitchen is rarely a quiet place. This San Diego-based Golden Retriever recently figured out that a quick paw tap on the freezer door produces a refreshing cube of ice. However, according to a hilarious video from @bakerbarnes, Summit has taken this logic way too far. He seems convinced that every flat surface in the house is just a different snack dispenser. It doesn’t matter if it is a mirror or an oven; Summit is ready to tap and wait.

Golden Retriever keeps tapping on every piece of furniture, thinking he’ll get ice

The clip shows the moment when Summit’s training went slightly off the rails. After hitting the freezer, he wanders over to a floor mirror and gives it a confident tap. He stands there with an expectant look, wondering why his reflection isn’t handing over a treat. His owners joked that he thinks they have an ice-making mirror and cabinet.

Even the wooden kitchen cupboards get a thorough pawing, leaving poor Summit confused by the lack of results. He eventually tries his luck with the oven, which at least has a similar chrome finish to the fridge. When no ice magically appears from the stovetop, he finally looks away with a sigh of defeat.

This isn’t the first time he has gone viral for his quirks. Previously, he had the internet in stitches with a “water dance” involving his bowl that showed off his rhythmic personality. He definitely has a unique way of communicating his needs to his humans.

The post racked up over 2,000 likes in its first day. Fans are now demanding that his owners fix the “broken” mirror immediately. One viewer joked that the family better figure out how to make an ice-making cabinet happen soon. Others just felt bad for the “poor floof” and his empty paws. It is obvious that Summit’s logic is flawed, but his persistence is pretty adorable. For his sake, though, let’s hope he learns to tell the difference between an appliance and furniture soon.
