Video: Golden Retriever’s Meeting With Grandma Went a Little Too Well

Wally the Golden Retriever loves his Grandma, and if you watch this video, you’d understand why — afterall, who but Grandma shows up at the door with shopping bags? Instagram user @wally.meets.world shared the adorable video. It shows Wally waiting on the couch as though he is trying his best to be the calmest host, and yet his dad reminds him, “Don’t knock her over. Okay?” And Wally listens — well, sort of.

Not only did this Golden Retriever meet his grandma, but he also got gifts

In the video, the Golden Retriever stays put, but you can see the excitement building waiting for his Grandma to arrive. Then Grandma walks in, greeting him with, “I haven’t seen you in forever,” and just like that, Wally jumps down and heads straight for the bags in her hands while she is still standing in the doorway. His mom politely reminds him, “You’ve gotta be gentle, please.”

But Wally focuses hard on the Marshalls bag, operating a bag ambush, eventually leading Grandma to give in and hand it over to the Golden. Wally grabs it with his paws and trots off with the bag clamped in his mouth. But the best part comes when Wally tears into the package and pulls out his brand new banana toy, carrying it around like a trophy, clearly thrilled with both the visit and the present.

Dogs often connect certain people with good things, including extra attention, familiar smells, and yes, gifts — which you see in Wally’s case. Add Grandma and her shopping bags to the mix, and it’s basically magic.

Viewers couldn’t get enough of Wally. One wrote, “omg he’s SO HAPPY i could watch this over & over again,” and another added, “Grandma spoils Wally so much and I AM HERE FOR IT!” And a third user joked, “He was ready to go through those bags like a TSA agent he knew they were for him.”

Wally may have tried to act cool at first, but Grandma walked in, and he completely lost the plot in the sweetest way possible.
