While devices like robot vacuums are designed to make life easier, they can also spark curiosity, fear, or even attachment in pets. A new reel on Instagram shows just how complicated those reactions can be for one dog. Shared by user @rosalinathepittie, the video shows a Pit Bull named Rosie displaying wildly different emotions depending on whether a robot vacuum is moving around the house or not.
Pit Bull is sort of confused about her feelings toward the robot vacuum
In the first part of the clip, Rosie appears locked in a tense standoff with the robot vacuum as it glides across the living room floor. She whimpers, whines, and cautiously approaches the moving device, as if trying to decide whether it’s a threat or something she needs to confront. At times, her behavior resembles a defensive response, with her vocalizing and hovering near the vacuum as it continues its cleaning route.
Just seconds later, the tone of the video shifts. In a follow-up clip, the vacuum is no longer in motion. What’s more, Rosie is seen lying on the floor, whining softly as though something important is missing. Her owner jokingly comments that she had initially thought Rosie had been scared of the vacuum. Instead of relief, Rosie seems disappointed that her mechanical companion is gone.
In the caption, Rosie’s owner admits she was surprised by the reaction. She writes that she never expected her dog to long for the vacuum’s presence. According to her, Rosie continues to surprise her daily. As such, this unexpected attachment was one of the most amusing examples yet.
Viewers were quick to share their own interpretations and experiences in the comments. Some joked that Rosie might simply “need a playmate.” Meanwhile, others imagined her negotiating with her owner about cleaning the house herself. Several people related closely, noting that their own dogs also bark at or attack the vacuum. A few commenters suggested that Rosie sees the vacuum less as an enemy and more as a “fun new toy.”
