Most people think winter in New Jersey means hibernating under blankets, but Chili had much better plans. This water-obsessed Golden Retriever scored an invite to Bojack the Lab’s 5th birthday, and it was epic. Between the “Let’s Pawty” balloons and the heated indoor water, it was the ultimate pool party. Gailin, Chili’s mom, posted the whole chaotic, splashing mess in a viral video on @goldenchilidog. Chili, being Chili, didn’t even hesitate before launching himself into the deep end of the facility.
Golden Retriever dries himself on grass after fun-filled pool party
The day starts with Chili posing politely in a hallway filled with colorful balloons and a birthday poster. You can tell he’s trying to stay calm, but his eyes reveal his excitement level. Once they are near the pool, Chili does a quick pool survey. Then a neon life vest is strapped onto him for extra safety. His mom cheers him on, and he takes a flying leap into the heated pool. He spends the next few hours retrieving toys and jumping straight back in.
Chili swims laps with a toy clamped firmly in his mouth, looking like he can’t believe his luck. Even some tiny Dachshunds join the fun, though they aren’t quite as splashy as the big guys. There’s even a treat counter featuring dog-friendly cheese that Chili eyes very longingly between his laps.
The highlight of the day is a slow-motion jump from the birthday boy, Bojack, who is the “wheeee” energy personified. Chili keeps up the pace, running up the ramp just to dive back in for more. On dry land, there’s also a tennis ball piñata that showers more balls for everyone to take.
However, the best part happens once they finally step outside into the chilly New Jersey air. Instead of a towel, Chili decides a patch of snowy grass is the perfect way to dry off. He rolls his entire body against the ground, looking like he’s having the best day ever.
With nearly 50,000 likes, it’s safe to say people are obsessed with this winter swim session. One viewer joked that Chili will definitely be demanding a backyard pool after this experience. He might be a lake dog by trade, but he’s a pool pro now.
